Bags For Buddies is a passionate and dedicated team committed to improving the lives of foster children in New Jersey. Our team includes:
- DCF Workers & Case Workers: These incredible workers are the backbone of our organization. They help with everything from organizing the bags and distributing bags to mentoring foster children and advocating for policy changes.
- Partners and Donors: We are gaining supporters through networking with generous partners and donors who share our vision of treating foster children with the dignity and respect they deserve. Their contributions are vital to our mission and enable us to continue our work.
We accept Bags, Backpacks, duffle bags, purses, and anything bag-related!

About Our Founder
JackEdward Schmick, founder of Bags For Buddies, was inspired by his own experience in the foster care system, where his belongings were carried in trash bags. After being adopted at age ten, he set out to ensure no child faces that same indignity. Founded in 2016, Bags For Buddies provides duffle bags to foster children across New Jersey, with a vision to expand nationwide and bring dignity to every child in the system. Schmick is an Eagle Scout, collegiate athlete, and public speaker, using his platform to advocate for children in foster care and inspire others through his story. His work has been featured on ABC News and Good Morning America, as well as in The Press of Atlantic City and multiple radio and media outlets. Through Bags For Buddies and his speaking engagements, Schmick continues to expand his impact, working toward a future where every child in foster care is treated with dignity and respect.
